A Republican Form of Government

The true concept of a republic, is one, which over the last century, has been slowly removed from the public consciousness. Today the obfuscation of this political ideology has led to so much confusion. So much so that many believe that a democracy and a republic are essentially the same thing. Where in reality they are complete opposites.

In a
Democracy, a 51% vote can create law. In a Republic only a 100% vote can create law. This is the true meaning of a Republic which many have fought and died for, over many civilizations, to implement and protect.

It is the social environment where the people are self governing. The elected public servants have no power to vote on the unalienable rights of the people, as these rights were never granted to the people by government in the first place. The primary role of government is to protect the rights of the people it serves, only when they are requested to by the sovereign and not before.

This definition differs greatly from that which is promoted by the media and various politicians and lobby groups. This confusion whether by accident or design has made it possible to create the political false dichotomy we live in.

A republic is the only political ideology that allows sovereigns to live free under common law. All three can only exist as a package. Remove one and the other two disappear. By the same token, implementing one without the other two is pointless.

It is because of this incompatibility, that any other political ideology, be it democracy, fascism, nazism, socialism, communism, zionism, technocracy, tribalism or whatever new name they go by, will not allow the people to live with the unrestrained ability to evolve. They are subjects, serfs, slaves or citizens subject to someone else’s private law.

Every so often the the media will seek the opinions of Keith Locke, a member of parliament and the Aotearoa Republican Movement.  His view and that of the republican movement has one fundamental flaw which has been pointed out, but they refuse to accept.  They sincerely believe that a republic and a democracy are essentially the same.  The reality is that they are a contradiction in terms and therefore cannot be both.  Even the U.S Government defines them as completely different forms of government.

True freedom lies in a true concept of a republic and it is this definition that is referred to throughout this site.
